STANDARD GAUGE
We are proposing to re-install a single standard gauge
track running from the Engine Shed to the Breakwater Lighthouse.
At the Engine Shed the standard gauge track would link with the narrow
gauge line.
The installation of a standard gauge track will allow for a greater
variety of engine to run on our network, and it is our intent to
acquire and refurbish old locomotives and rolling stock for this
purpose.
We are also currently trying to recover one such loco from the Azores for
permanent display. The loco in question was one of the original 7ft broad
gauge engines used on the broad gauge railway that was constructed to
build the Breakwater.
We hope to have much more news to report on this proposal during
